The Mummy Online Slots
The Mummy is an online video slot based squarely on the 1999 film by the same name. An action meets fantasy meets horror film of American origins, filmed in the scorching Sahara, it starred Brendan Fraser, Arnold Vosloo, Rachel Weisz and John Hannah, amongst others. The film, in turn, is loosely based on a previous film dating back to 1932, starring Boris Karloff.
The movie was an instant box office hit, and gave birth to a sequel as well as a couple of spin-off films. The storyline is one of forbidden love and the setting is Ancient Egypt. It is also a story of past meets present, as two realities are interlinked; the Egypt of 1290 BC and 1926 America. In the end, as is befitting to all feel-good stories, love triumphs all.
Whilst portraying Egypt, the story was mainly filmed in Marrakesh, Morocco, and the budget for special effects and special lighting is said to have exceeded a budget of $15 million. Taking into account that the budget for the entire film was $80 million, this is quite a sizeable chunk to have been spent on special effects. In the end, the investment seems to have paid off beyond expectation.
Playtech’s The Mummy is a film morphed into a slot game, right down to the original characters. The game can be played as a paid game, in other words playing for real money, or as a free game at a Canadian online casino – either for fun or for a practise round.
The Mummy features 5 reels and 25 paylines, and the maximum bet totals to 5 credits per payline. The game presents no less than 8 Special Bonus Features, including The Mummy Hunt and The Lost City Adventure.
The Mummy Slot Symbols
Symbols include a selection of the beloved characters from the film: Brendan Fraser (Rick O’Connell) is the highest paying symbol, at 10 000 credits for 5 in a row on an active payline. Rachel Weisz (Evelyn O’Connell) rolls in at 2 000 credits for 5 in a row and 500 for a matching combination of 4 symbols on an active payline. Other cast members include John Hannah (Jonathan Carnahan) and South African actor Arnold Vosloo, starring as the High Priest Imhotep.
Treasure symbols, revolver weaponry and Scarab beetles also form part of the parcel, being the lower value paying symbols. A welcome chance is the absence of playing card symbols. All of the symbols featured in The Mummy are themed symbols.
The Mummy symbol is the game’s wild symbol, substituting to replace symbols to make up wins.
The Mummy Hunt Bonus Feature
This feature is triggered totally randomly during the main game. Mummies must now be hunted – the more mummies wiped out, the better the prizes awarded.
The Lost City Adventure Bonus Feature
This feature offers a nice twist, as the player is afforded an additional one of eight other bonus features, with every win during the Lost City Adventure Bonus Feature. A total of all eight bonus features may be activated.
